2011-12 Initiation Bike Polo Challenge of Ile-de-France

The first edition of the Initiation Bike Polo Challenge of Ile-de-France has been held on three legs by the U.S. Alfortville Cyclisme in Alfortville (Val de Marne, France) on 3 December 2011, by the E.S. Gervais-Lilas in Bobigny (Seine-St-Denis, France) on 21 January 2012 and by the Argenteuil V.S.C. in Argenteuil on 11 February 2012.

1^st leg - Alfortville (3 December 2011)

The U.S. Alfortville Cyclisme has organized on the Toulon stadium the first leg of this new regional challenge dedicated to beginners in bike polo. The rain which falled since the morning has not stopped the five following clubs: the A.V. Thiais and the U.S. Alfortville Cyclisme (Val de Marne), the Parisis A.C. 95 (Val d'Oise), the E.S. Gervais-Lilas (Seine-St-Denis) and the Rebréchien Loiret Cyclisme especially arrived from the Loiret.

This new challenge has been favorized by the Ile-de-France bike polo commission of the French Cycling Federation. It was open to beginners in bike polo from 13 year old player to adults. based on the same model than the tournaments dedicated to bike schools in Ile-de-France since 2009, this tournament has begun by pratices on foot, then on bike without ball then on bike with ball.

Four teams have met the other teams: Alfortville, Rebréchien, Gervais-Lilas and a mixed team made with two members from the A.V. Thiais, on from the Parisis A.C. 95 and one from the U.S. Alfortville Cyclisme. Players from the E.S. Gervais-Lilas were road and track cyclists absolute beginners on bike polo.

2^nd leg - Bobigny (21 January 2012)

The E.S. Gervais-Lilas has organized in the stade de la Motte in Bobigny the second leg of this new regional challenge dedicated to beginners in bike polo. The rain almost did not fall, but a lot of wind welcomed the four following clubs: the A.V. Thiais (Val de Marne), the Parisis A.C. 95 (Val d'Oise), the E.S. Gervais-Lilas (Seine-St-Denis) and the Rebréchien Loiret Cyclisme especially arrived from the Loiret.

Four teams have met the other teams: Parisis, Rebréchien, Gervais-Lilas and a mixed team made with one members from the A.V. Thiais and four from the Parisis A.C. 95. Players from the E.S. Gervais-Lilas were road and track cyclists absolute beginners on bike polo.

A victory gave three points, a tie two points and a defeat one point.

3^rd leg - Argenteuil (11 February 2012)

The Argenteuil V.S.C. has organized in the Auguste Delaune stadium, Argenteuil, the third leg of this new regional challenge dedicated to beginners in bike polo. The cold temperature (-3 Celsius degrees) was not a good reason to cancel this appointment for the 30 players who played bike polo for their very first time for most of them. Six clubs were there: the A.V. Thiais (Val de Marne), the Argenteuil V.S.C. and the Parisis A.C. 95 (Val d'Oise), the E.C. Vélizy 78 (Yvelines), the E.S. Gervais-Lilas (Seine-St-Denis) and the Rebréchien L.C. (Loiret).

Seven teams played in 2 groups: Argenteuil 1, Argenteuil 2, Argenteuil 3, Argenteuil 4, Parisis-Thiais, Rebréchien et Gervais-Lilas-Vélizy. Players from the E.S. Gervais-Lilas were road and track cyclists absolute beginners on bike polo.

A victory gave three points, a tie two points and a defeat one point.
